Tourism is one of the most noticeable and growing sectors. This sector play an important role in boosting economy of the country. increase in tourism flow can bring positive economic outcomes to the nations. ON Dec 15, 2019, Pakistan was ranked the top tourist destination for travelers.
Statistics show that in the financial year 2018-19, the number of foreign tourists in Pakistan was more than 1.9 million and they spent 317 million US dollars in Pakistan. According to the report of the World Tourism and Travel Council, Pakistan can earn 39 39.8 billion in a short period of ten years by promoting tourism.
Gilgit-Baltistan is said to be the tourist capital of Pakistan, many of the world’s highest mountains, including K2. Rich in natural beauty and cultural colors, Gilgit-Baltistan has ample tourism opportunities. These tourist destinations include Ferry Meadows, Deosai Plain, Rama, Khanjarab, Babusar Top, Attaabad, Shangri-La and Khalti Lakes, Phandar, Shandur, Hunza’s Baltit and Alatit and Shigar and Ganchha forts in Skardu, Khaplo thousand year old mosque and Naltar. In addition to the tourist attractions there are dozens of other beautiful areas.
The present government is trying to increase the share of tourism in Pakistan’s economy to one trillion rupees by 2025.
Gilgit-Baltistan currently has 140 good hotels, 30 government rest houses and three convenience centers .
The tourism secretary said.
“Under this plan of action, roads leading to tourist destinations will be rebuilt and the fastest way to reopen roads after being closed for any reason will be introduced,”
Uninterrupted power supply to tourist destinations and villages will also be ensured.To increase tourist arrivals in Gilgit-Baltistan, flights will be allowed to private airlines by increasing facilities at Gilgit and Skardu airports.
Under the action plan, an emergency service like Rescue 1122 will be launched soon in the area.
In Pakistan, especially in Punjab, there is ample scope to take tourism to its peak. The present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan has paid special attention to the promotion of tourism and creation of all kinds of facilities for tourists and to provide all possible facilities to tourists across the country including Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
In terms of tourism, Pakistan is rich in charming plains, hills and deserts.
On the direction of Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the provincial tourism department is playing a major role in the promotion and development of tourist destinations.
The tourism sector in Punjab was earlier linked to sports but the present TI government has made it a separate department from April 2020 for the development of this sector. Including Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) ‘Archaeological Directorate and Tourist Services.The province has recently made great strides in promoting tourism.
Pakistan is a good place for tourism, to make it a tourist paradise, improving the security situation is the first condition because security is a basic need. In addition, the establishment of information centers for the guidance of tourists, online advertisements for public information, news broadcasts in newsletters and news channels must be broadcast. A clean environment is also essential for the promotion of scary places, special types of festivals, cultural and sports events, organized festivals, tourism promotion. Tourists like to live in a clean environment.
It is important that the districts directly benefit from tourism revenue.
Local people can directly benefit from tourism revenue, which will further brighten their path to a brighter future.
There should be plans for them to increase their revenue and employment opportunities by attracting tourists.
In this way, Pakistan’s tourism industry will grow and Pakistan’s economy will flourish.
